When you embark on a weight loss or fat loss program it is important to realise that slower is often better. It is far more desirable to lose 1kg a week for 5 weeks than it is to lose 5 kg in a single week.

Sure we all want rapid results because we live in an instant society. We want everything to happen right now!
However in all probability rapid weight loss will result in the weight coming back just as rapidly.

Gradual weight loss over a period of time allows your body to adjust to the new routine that you are setting for it.

How to lose weight the healthy and "easy" way

Drink Water
Water is natures medium to flush harmful toxins from your body. These toxins not only slow down your metabolism and promote weight gain but they also lead to sickness. By drinking a glass of water an hour you are flushing these toxins away, improving the distribution of nourishment through your body and helping to boost your metabolism.

Do drink a glass of water immediately before a meal. This helps you to eat less and reduce your calorie intake. Drinking lots of water also helps to reduce your consumption of sugary beverages such as coffee, coke, wine etc.
Eat healthy.
Eating healthy is not necessary a case of following a strict diet. It is merely being sensible in your eating. Reduce your intake of fat and fried foods, balance your carbs with protein, avoid large portions of carbs at any one time etc.

Eat at regular times and plan healthy snacks between meals to prevent your self from snacking on high sugar items.
Do not deprive yourself
Many people try to totally cut out everything that they are used to and enjoy. Weight loss is all about reducing calories in and increasing calories burnt so that your body has to draw on fat reserves.

Instead of cutting things like sugar or your favourite food totally out of your det, try reducing your instake instead. If you normally have 2 teaspoons of sugar in your coffee then cut it back to one teaspoon. After a couple of weeks you can always cut it back to half teaspoon.
Increase exercise
The average person does not need to join a gym to increase exercise - simply increase your walking, housework playing with kids etc. Any increase in physical activity is good. The main factor that you are seeking is to burn more calories per day.

While exercise itself does not burn as many calories as we would hope for, it does help to keep your body in good shape. If you are seeking that hour glass knock dead figure I am afraid that you would probably need to embark on a strict and strenuos exercise routine.

Muscle building requires new cell formation and this does burn a lot of calories.
